ManYee's Work

Hi there,
I didn't create a new weekly folder in the server, so I uploaded it to dropbox.
please download it through the link.

ManYee_Polish_1st.

Hi Marleah,
here's my polished shot, one with sound and one without sound.
it's also on the sever, under weak 12 > group6 > animation > manyee.

mine and Elizabeth's looks better with sound...
so if you could keep it with sound it would be great!
but anyway, it's not a must-thing if you got technical problems.

I have class tonight, won't be able to update things till 10:30..

no sound.

with sound.

:-)

thank you !

Stuff for reel

Is this what you meant Elizabeth?

I made some changes to Alex and Nadia since the last time I turned them in, so these are the versions that should be in the reel if we put them in. Also, I remember you guys were asking about the rocks, so I put them here too. And I did a paint over of Chris' model as suggested by Bunny. I painted over this one:

ReelTest with sound

This is a test with sound from the "final Fantasy" audio that Danny posted last night...

As I tested it, it fades into the softer music again.... If we put all of the vis dev work first in the reel (as Marleah wanted) and then the story/animation/moment pieces (stuff I've been working on) after, then it would follow the flow of the soundtrack which starts soft and then transitions to this more punctuated, anticipatory music, then back into the soft music again at the end.

My Shot, Reel Test

Just throwing this up so that you guys can see it, and how it matches the other tests.  I'm not going to be changing it (except replacing my updated animation).

Yen,  I updated the images with the latest you gave me last night.

Reel Tests Danny's Shot

The above test shows the format:
Boards > still > render > animation
This format works better for Danny's scene because his chosen frame to be rendered comes at the beginning of his animation.

The above test shows the format:
Boards > animation > still > render
This format matches what I did with the tests for mine and ManYee's shots.  We both have renders from the last frame of animation (as opposed to the beginning of the scene, like Danny). So for overall continuity amongst the different tests, this would match the same format.

However, as Marleah pointed out last night, I don't necessarily think each test NEEDS to follow the exact same order.  We could showcase each one with whatever suits it best.  Soooo... let me know what you guys think.  Should I use the top test for Danny (the one with different format, but better suits his piece) or the bottom test (which doesn't really fit his chosen frame, but matches the other two tests).

Again, please let me know asap. Any input would be appreciated :)

Reel Tests, ManYee's Shot

The above test has a pan from the small corner part of Joelle's render panning into her full rendered piece.
The above test has a fade transitioning between the small corner of Joelle's render, where ManYee's animation is taking place, to the full rendered piece.

Please let me know which transition you like better, the pan or the fade.

Also, Joelle, I still need the painting of  just Nadia (in place of the rig screenshot) in front of the background without the other characters behind her.  Can I get that as soon as possible so that I can include it between the image of the rig in front of the background and the zoomed in view of your full render? Thank youuu.... :)

Song Suggestion

Usually when I'm working on a project, one song will stick with me through the entire thing lol It was like that for the Well project too. Here is the one that I think of when I think of this project.

Notes for Yen

The red lines are where the tangents are... Her hair just flows into the shapes behind them... They're different colors, but the shapes are tangenting still...

Super simple fixes, just adjusted the shapes behind her a little so her hair was following the same line.

Hope this helps :)

Animation bg and renders

Progress on Danny and Elizabeth's shots/background/render

Test for Reel

The above 2 tests follow the same format:
Boards > transition to animation > fade to still with background > fade to full render moment peice
I think it's good to keep the format the same for continuity within the reel....

The below test is different though, (I don't think it works as well) because Danny's moment piece is in the middle of his animation.  So I held that pose, then transitioned to the still and moment piece render,  then transitioned back into the animation.  I tried that format because I remember Thomas saying something about  if your still frame for the moment piece is within the middle of the animation somewhere to hold the frame, transition to the renders, and then fade back into the animation.  I don't like it this way because it 1) interrupts the flow of Danny's animation, and 2) the animation frame, the still shot with background, and the moment render all have slightly different camera angles so the fades don't transition smoothly.  I only included this version because Thomas had mentioned doing it this way.

Please let me know what you guys think...

ManYee's Background (UPDATED.)

Hi Joelle,

it's the ending frame of my animation with a fixed camera, but it's not you gonna put into your new piece, I talk about it later in this post.

you can see the picture of your illustration is a little bit changed in Maya because of the perspective camera. they can't match perfectly..

***I think the best way to do it now,

1. first,  you would need to focus on  the area that shows in my animation from your old moment piece you showed on Friday, since I used that as a reference for my background.  refine/ revise it more. (hopefully you can get this done by Wednesday? so you will have Thursday to work on the "big picture")

-for the background I am framing now, it needs to add more on the left side and the bottom, It shows the grey background. and please take out the character for my animation background, it is not necessary for my animation part, and it might be distracting.

-please download and use the picture below(with original size), and don't change the proportion and the picture ratio, so I can keep things in the same places when I take a new picture from Maya camera.

2. When you get it done, post it to sever or send it to me, and then I will put the new one into Maya and make a new snapshot. at this stage, the ending pose won't change anymore, so you can paint over in your illustration that this time.

3. Then I will send you a new snapshot with the revised background. you can merge that with the old one and refine/revise it. or you can expand the canvas size of my snapshot to make a new one.

*** the final illustration can still have characters, but you will need 2 version of the final piece, one without and one with character on it .
we can first zoom out to the one with empty environment, and then "fade-in" to the one with characters on it.

Reel Layout

I wanted to post this now so everyone has a chance to see it before the meeting.

Just a quick layout for the final presentation reel. Its not set in stone the order of everything but i wanted  to get an idea of what was going into it.

More scenes vis devers can do

Some of the scenes I thought were interesting for vis devers to do moment pieces of. The last three is more of a pan-up shot.

moment piece ideas?

hey guys so i looked through the boards posted on the server.

these are the shots that i picked. what do you guys think?
