SUPER ROUGH first pass blocking

Super rough, first pass blocking.  I'm not sure if the hand thing is working... It is supposed to be a nervous/anxious secondary action.. I'm trying to convey her extreme anxiety and fear over being forced to climb the waterfall... But I'm not sure if to unknowing eyes it appears like she can't "do this" because her wrist/hand hurts.

Also, I know the timing for the mouth is off a couple of frames here and there from the audio. This is just a rough pass.

status update : I gonna do blocking for my shot first, then I will go back to work on facial expressions sheet for other characters.

lianas, talisman and more

Lianas:
  
  I did the tree first with the lianas hanging down and then did a classification of how they vary in the way that they hang.

Talisman:
   here are some of my ideations of the talisman. i tried to think of it like a whistle, so you blow into the top of it with a vent, as well as the bottom is open. I tried to go for random shapes and then 'carve" the owl into it.

Trees and other plants:
    just some quick studies i did.
Tree trunks with hiding spot/sap holder:

   I was thinking of the bowl or holder for the sap as if it was burrowed or hollowed out from the tree trunk. 


i plan on coloring all of these this evening.

Mokarita Styling Adjustments




Here's my first pass on the adjustments for Mokarita to bring him in line with Joelle's styling.  Let me know what you think.

Making some progress on the waterfall. I'll have the file up for the animators to play with tonight.

Hey group,

Please be sure to read this before our meeting tonight. That way we can save some time and spend more time on other things.

This is the crit from Yee:

Set up Tahama's attitude immediately as violent and impatient.
Close up shots for climbing sap, and show where they're getting the sap from.
- The sap shows a foreign way of climbing. Emphasize that Alex and Nadia aren't experienced with the sap.
Whenever there's a POV shot, have a reaction shot after. ex. Nadia looking up at the waterfall.
Don't have Alex turn around while talking to Nadia. Find another form of acting to show his lack of caring.
Have Tahama tell Alex to head over toward the waterfall, and have Alex notice and come back when he sees Tahama grabbing Nadia's hair.
Have Nadia and Tahama fight more before he grabs her hair.
When Tahama scowls at Nadia, show close up of Tahama's face.
Economize shots when Tahama let's go of Nadia.
Show wide shot of owls flying.
Be sure to show everyone's reaction to owls, including Mokarita.
End with her putting sap on, not talking to Mokarita.

I pretty much agree with most of this, if not all of it. Aside from other crits, this is at least what you can expect for Friday.

Style Guide and fixed Chars



 Hey guys. So I did a draw over of these guys to try to make them more cohesive. I didn't get to Tahama yet. I made a style guide too...or tried to lol I didn't add Mokarita's accessories because I wasn't sure what to take away and what to keep. I don't know what you guys would like to do at this point. Should I flesh these out to show on Friday so they will look like they belong in the same world and you guys keep yours for portfolio, or do you guys want to try drawing them again yourselves?

Hey all,

I've addressed some of the issues that have been mentioned. There were a few suggestions about deep space that still need to be resolved, and thats why I proclaim these to still be JUST IDEAS. These are totes still rough.

I'm still in the middle of addressing some revisions, but since I need to switch over the Team 5's boards for the rest of tonight, I figure I'd post my progress now.

I look forward to hearing how I can make these better!
