So I took the suggestions you guys gave me and I softened his face, and made him shorter with a smaller frame. I'm still working on his clothes, but this is the basic shape I think I would go for. Also, here are my ideations from Friday. A lot are of Nadia because I had a clearer direction for her. For Alex, I refined the ones on the last page into the design I have now.

ReplyDeleteI know no one else has commented on this at all... But I'd like to see what he would look like with a little more breathing room from his mouth to the bottom of his chin... and maybe whole jaw line pulled down a little bit? It just looks a little squished upward right now...
And Oh My Gosh! I just glanced back up at him... and his face totally remineded me of the main girl character from Avatar! The feline looking blue chick... :) Totally random. But maybe a more present jaw would alleviate that likeness.
I really like where you're going with it so far. Personally, I'm just being nit picky. So, I'd love to see those changes, just to see them... But I'd also be fine/happy with this as a final design.

ReplyDeleteOverall I like where the designs going, other than what Danny and Elizabeth said, I think it's looking very good. He still likes very 18'ish in this one, but I'll wait to see the new one you put up. Definitely needs more room from mouth to chin, but I think you've probably already addressed that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe adjust one pocket of the two on the shorts so they look just a bit different, I know they're the same and in the same spot, but see what you can do to add a little imbalance there. Maybe a shift of weight or something if that's not too much work, or you could just put some stuff in one so it alters the shape a bit. Whatever is easier, totally nit picking.
The central crux of the collar bone to where his neck attaches is quite a jutting gap, looks a little odd, might want to bring those more in line.
I'll save the rest for the new version you put up. Looking great Joelle, I know you were apprehensive about this character, but I think you're nailing it.

DeleteI like him a lot. The longness doesn't bug me just because i have a 15 yr old brother that's 6 2 hahah! I know he's supposed to be small for his age but I think its appropriate how you have it. That's just my opinion though. :) Love his face and hair!
